Stem Cell Therapy

What is stem cell therapy and how can it help your pet?

Stem cell therapy is the process where stem cells are taken, usually from your pet’s fat tissue, blood or plasma, then injected back into damaged tissue.

This procedure works because stem cells are unspecialised cells that reproduce and turn into the cells that are needed to heal the condition.

Stem cell therapy is most commonly used to treat osteoarthritis in pets, and can also be used to help with repairing bones and ligaments, healing kidney and liver diseases, cancers and spinal cord injuries.

While stem cell therapy is relatively new technology, the risks or reaction or rejection are low as the stem cells usually come from your pet. The decision to use stem cell therapy will depend on different factors including your pet’s age, breed and severity of condition.
